Worldwide Architectural Competition “Piraeus Tower: Changing the façade”

The redefinition of the importance of a building, for years uncommitted (functional, morphological, socially), through the modernization of its facades is a challenge for the study team.

The idea behind the proposal seeks to enrich the building with elements that illustrates the constant movement of the city, with the aim to reform it in order to follow the rhythm and the dynamic of the port.

Fluid wavy forms are created in both horizontal and vertical planes, solid and semitransparent, surrounding the rigid initial volume leaving it visible only at the top while revoking it lower, where the city penetrates the building and dominates on it.

The tower recovers from the latent state, and finally reconciles with the surrounding environment.
