Institute of Vocational Training Lobby Redesign

The study concerns the redevelopment of the foyer-entrance of an existing eight-storey building in the 1970s, in the center of Athens, which operates as a vocational training institute, and in general reflects the will of the institute to maintain its educational profile contemporary, constantly updating and redeveloping its facilities.

The design of the space covers the whole ground floor, including all its furnishings. All existing structures were removed, and the reception area and the classrooms were reorganized. The use of movable glass partitions favors the flexible operation of the space, allowing for the occasional conversion of teaching rooms into a waiting – welcome area.

Our goal is to design a recognizable corporate identity in the central buildings of the educational institution. Our choice is the creation of free abstract lines, with emphasis on free-geometry shapes that are created along the space and organize the host-waiting area. Alternation of full-blank, black-and-white, transparency-opacity in the use of materials and colors completes our design choices.
